The Museum’s aim is to collect, conserve and present to the public, fire service memorabilia and other interesting items related to the history of firefighting both locally, and worldwide.
During 1989 the Museum was appointed custodians of The Merryweather Collection, a collection of Fire Service Memorabilia owned by Merryweather the Fire Engineers of London.
Some of the equipment in the collection dates back to the Great Fire of London and is of great interest to all viewing it.
Many items of memorabilia are of local interest, including items from the Great Houses and Estates of Welbeck and Thoresby.
